Author's Note: This is the story of a man no more remarkable than many others. My father was caught up in the same times and the same events which overtook everyone in Europe. He remained, like many other men and women, someone of strength and humanity that his son and daughter could regard with immense pride. Whilst no one would wish back days of darkness like those of 1939 - 1945, one cannot help but look around and wonder where such men and women can be found today... So let's not forget them... Many thanks to the Ministry of Defence (Polish Section) in Hayes for their courtesy and generous assistance in researching some of this web site information; thanks also to the Polish Air Force Association in London for their help. Amongst many references, our greatest thanks go to Jerzy B. Cynk for his wonderful work "The Polish Air Force at War - The Official History" and to Robert Gretzyngier for "Poles in Defence of Britain", a detailed and fascinating account of Polish Fighter Operations from July 1940 to June 1941. My thanks also to Wojtek Matusiak (who collaborated on Robert Gretzyngier's book) and Franciszek Grabowski for their valuable contributions and help. These and other references can be found on the Links page. My thanks also to the many other people who have made contact, with information about and recollections of my father. If you have any information about my father, whether serving with him during the war on 303 Squadron, or afterwards in the various Meteor and Hunter squadrons he was with in Germany and in England, I would like to hear from you. Contact me at jan@wojciechowski.freeserve.co.uk or write to me at The Old School, Burford Road, Black Bourton, Bampton, Oxfordshire OX18 2PF, England.
Jan Wojciechowski.
